Dr. Erick Ogello’s Visit to DalAqua Hub Inspires Youth and Women Empowerment in Food Systems

Dr. Erick Ogello Visits DalAqua Farm

DalAqua Hub, has been created with the aim of empowering local adolescents and women through training on various aspects of Food Systems. However, being in its early stages, the team faced uncertainties on certain aspects of the project. But, everything changed when Dr. Erick Ogello, a renowned food systems expert, African Food Fellow, a co-PI in the PrAEctiCe Project, and a researcher at Maseno University, visited the hub unexpectedly.

During his visit, Dr. Ogello shared his experience on the importance of sustainable food systems and their potential to improve the lives of people in rural areas. He emphasized the significance of involving youth and women in the development and implementation of sustainable food systems, which inspired the DalAqua Hub team.

As Dr. Ogello shared his insights, the team realized that their initiative had the potential to make a tremendous impact on their community. They were also motivated by Dr. Ogello’s passion for youth and women’s empowerment and his belief in the project’s viability towards improving food and nutrition security among rural communities.

Determined to make their concept a reality, the DalAqua Hub team worked tirelessly with Dr. Ogello to achieve this goal. They collaborated on various project issues, such as designing training modules and identifying potential recipients of the project. Throughout the process, Dr. Ogello provided valuable insights and advice, contributing significantly to the project’s success.

In retrospect, the DalAqua Hub team regarded Dr. Ogello’s visit as a watershed moment for their project. His words of encouragement and direction inspired them to take the first step towards achieving their objective.
